HELPING MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAMS GROW AND THRIVE

HOW IT WORKS

BJ’s Wholesale Club is the first warehouse club charitable partner to support Meals on Wheels America. To commence the partnership, BJ’s Charitable Foundation contributed $100,000 to support capacity building projects in eight markets across the United States. Meals on Wheels America Member programs submitted creative applications to showcase how a capacity building grant would increase their ability to serve more meals, remove seniors from their wait list and/or recruit new volunteers. In total, 17 grants were distributed.

CREATING IMPACT

Through capacity building grants, Meals on Wheels programs have been able to purchase new equipment, participate in training, create volunteer recruitment materials and more. Meals on Wheels programs are expecting to serve 529,000 more meals and close to 1,900 more seniors as a result of the BJ's Charitable Foundation funding.

THE RESULT

Support from BJ’s Charitable Foundation has allowed Meals on Wheels programs across the country to invest in much needed projects and equipment that will help them increase their capacity to serve seniors in their communities. The support will not only provide more nutritious meals to seniors, but also forge friendships to enhance their quality of life.
