    2020 CALL FOR MEMBER PRESENTERS

    INTEREST FORMS DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 20



    The 2020 Meals on Wheels Annual Conference and Expo is being designed to allow senior nutrition professionals to grow, connect and lead the Meals on Wheels movement into the future. To enhance our 2020 session content, we are now seeking Members who can share their hands-on experience, skills and knowledge in the specified areas below. 

    Presenting at Conference provides a great way to showcase your program, collaborate with peers, enhance your career, gain speaking experience and broaden your network. Better yet, all Members who are selected to contribute will receive $100 off the cost of their full Conference Registration.
     

    AREAS OF INTEREST BY LEARNING TRACK 

    SERVICE OFFERINGS

    Seeking Members with:

    • Success in creating appealing meals for older adults of varying ages, dietary requirements, ethnic/cultural/religious food needs and/or personal preferences
    • Experience engaging clients, food service vendors, partner organizations and/or senior nutrition program staff in creating menus that are tailored to the needs and desires of your clientele
    • Actionable tips and resources to share with peers on how to create appetizing meals for older adults
    • Success in maintaining or increasing congregate nutrition program participation 
    • Experience working with partners to offer inventive programs and offerings that improve intergenerational programming or opportunities for social connection
    • Experience launching new service lines, switched or added frozen/chilled meals to their service lines, acquired a contract for services that required a change in food service operations/menu type, launched a new catering or food truck service, etc.
    • Practical tips, stories, lessons learned, templates, tools and/or advice for fellow senior nutrition program peers on how to get started with a service model

    COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

    Seeking Members with:

    • Success using technology to train, engage or inspire volunteers  
    • Experience overcoming obstacles to provide quality services in rural areas, either through an innovative delivery model, or the unique management of volunteers

    LEADERSHIP

    Seeking Members with:

    • Success in strategic planning design and execution
    • Experience integrating environmental stability strategies into your business model (e.g. pollution prevention, resource conservation, zero waste, waste reduction/waste minimization, alternative/renewable energy, responsible consumption, reuse and recycling, innovation)
    • Best practices in providing services in rural areas and overcoming obstacles and/or developing innovative programming unique to rural communities

    DEVELOPMENT

    Seeking Members with:

    • Success in grant writing
    • Success with individual giving
       

    DO YOU HAVE WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?

    If you’re interested in presenting on one (or more) of these topics, please fill out our brief online interest form no later than Friday, March 20. At this time, we are only looking for presenters to speak on the topics outlined above. Please note we are not requesting session proposals, but instead program and practice examples that can be shared to support existing sessions. Members must submit their online interest form to be considered. Selected presenters will be notified in April.

    When submitting the interest form, first select the respective Learning Track (Service Offerings, Community Engagement, Leadership or Development) and then select the specific topic of interest on the next page. Please note that the interest form will only allow you to submit for one topic of interest at a time.

     

     
    TERMS & CONDITIONS

    Presenter Agreement: If you are selected to present, you will receive a discount code for $100 off the 2020 Full Registration fee. This can be used whether you are registering as an individual or as part of a group. In addition to registering for Conference, Member presenters are responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements as well as covering any additional Conference-related expenses.

    Eligibility: To present as a Member at the Meals on Wheels Annual Conference and receive the discounted rate, your program must be an active, dues-paying Member of Meals on Wheels America. If you are uncertain of your Membership status, contact membership@mealsonwheelsamerica.org.

    Submission Policy: Each submission will be evaluated based on its relevance and ability to address session objectives, ensuring comprehensive and diverse content that represents the breadth of the network. While not all submissions will selected for this year’s Conference, we are always looking for great session ideas and dynamic presenters.
