PROVIDING GUIDANCE ON ADDRESSING HUNGER IN OLDER ADULTS

Funded by AARP Foundation and Caesars Foundation, our Hunger in Older Adults report seeks to increase the understanding of a variety of food assistance programs that can work in combination to more effectively address the needs of the more than 10 million older Americans facing hunger each year.

Funded by PetSmart Charities, Meals on Wheels America embarked on a research project to further explore isolation, loneliness and the role pets play in providing comfort and companionship to Meals on Wheels clients, aiming to better understand the specific needs, challenges and opportunities available to clients and the Meals on Wheels network in addressing gaps in pet care.

ADDRESSING IN-HOME SAFETY ISSUES FOR OLDER ADULTS

Funded through our strategic partnership with The Home Depot Foundation, our in-home safety initiative seeks to further explore the hazards seniors face in their own homes, as well as solutions and interventions to improve safety and falls prevention.

INCREASING UNDERSTANDING OF THE OPPORTUNITIES AND LIMITATIONS THAT EXIST WITHIN THE AGING NETWORK

It’s crucial for the Meals on Wheels network to understand the opportunities and limitations that exist within states’ policies that guide the implementation of the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program. That’s why we partnered with the Retirement Research Foundation to identify these commonly cited policy myths within our network through a year-long research project.

EXPLORING PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN 
MEALS ON WHEELS AND HEALTHCARE

Prepared with Quantified Ventures, and developed with the support of Nonprofit Finance Fund’s Pay for Success Initiative and the funding awarded between 2015 and 2017 by The Social Innovation Fund, Effective Partnerships Between Community-Based Organizations and Healthcare: A Possible Path to Sustainability explores how community-based organizations can work effectively with health plans to scale their services through outcomes-based financing.
