REPAIRING HOMES AND HEARTS OF SENIOR VETERANS

HOW IT WORKS

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families, The Home Depot Foundation funded a veteran home repair pilot project with Meals on Wheels America and two local Meals on Wheels programs in Austin, TX and San Francisco, CA for 2015. Throughout the year, The Home Depot Foundation contributed more than $700,000 and countless volunteer hours from Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer force, to help senior veterans with critical home repairs so they can age more safely and comfortably in their homes.

CREATING IMPACT

Thanks to funding from The Home Depot Foundation, Ms. Baily and her husband have felt the power of Meals on Wheels' "more than just a meal" service. She said, “When we contacted [Meals on Wheels and More in Austin, TX] for help, all we asked for was a shower [my husband] could use and now look at it! We have a new house! This is so amazing. We are so blessed!”

THE RESULT

Across the country, The Home Depot Foundation’s financial and strategic support enabled the repair of 105 homes of senior veterans and engaged Team Depot volunteers in a meaningful way. In 2016, the partnership will expand to include programs in Kissimmee, FL and Fayetteville, NC.
