June 5, 2019 - Meals on Wheels America to Expand Mobile App-Based Health and Safety Monitoring Program to Reach 40,000 Homebound Seniors Across Country
Meals on Wheels America is expanding a successful research program showing how Meals on Wheels drivers can use a mobile app to alert care coordinators about observed changes in homebound meal clients’ physical or mental health, social needs or home environment. The program – developed with the West Health Institute and the Brown University Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research – will grow to include up to 30 Meals on Wheels sites across the country, helping ensure the wellness of an estimated 40,000 seniors.

May 25, 2016 - West Health Institute Launches More Than a Meal Phase 3 with Meals on Wheels America and Brown University to Investigate the Benefits of Adding Safety and Health Screenings for Homebound Seniors
The Gary and Mary West Health Institute, Meals on Wheels America and a research group in the Brown University Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research are collaborating on a two-year research program to investigate opportunities to improve the general health and well-being of homebound seniors by integrating health and safety screenings into daily meal delivery services. The research will be taking place in the following cities:
Cambridge, OH – Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center
Fort Worth, TX – Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County
Raleigh, NC – Meals on Wheels of Wake County
San Diego, CA – Meals on Wheels of Greater San Diego, Inc.
Sheboygan, WI – Fresh Meals of Sheboygan County
Westwood, NJ – Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels
