BRINGING JOY TO SENIORS WITH COMPANION PETS

HOW IT WORKS

In 2016, Hasbro’s JOY FOR ALL brand began a national partnership with Meals on Wheels America to bring companion pets to seniors facing isolation. Hasbro donated $100,000 and more than 100 companion pets to local Meals on Wheels programs across the country.

CREATING IMPACT

Thanks to Hasbro’s partnership, Martha was able to bring back memories of family. When she received the companion pet cat, she immediately named her “Virginia.” Soon thereafter, Martha showed the team photos of her sister Virginia, who had red hair just like the cat. These companion pets truly create joy for all.

THE RESULT

Over the course of 2016, Hasbro’s JOY FOR ALL team visited five cities: Providence, RI; Austin, TX; Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; and Fort Lauderdale, FL. In each of these locations, Hasbro and the Meals on Wheels teams were able to create some magic in the lives of seniors who might have previously owned a pet or be in search of companionship.
