NATIONAL AGING LEADERS TO CELEBRATE LIFE-CHANGING NUTRITION PROGRAMS OVER LUNCH AT SOME SENIOR SERVICES

Mar 29, 2016

One of the largest nonprofit providers of services for seniors in the DC area, So Others Might Eat (SOME), will host Assistant Secretary for Aging Kathy Greenlee in celebration of an important anniversary month for Older Americans Act Nutrition Programs. Greenlee will be joined by the leaders of three national organizations dedicated to fighting for the health and wellbeing of seniors:  Meals on Wheels America, the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP) and the National Council on Aging (NCOA).

Special Guests:
Kathy Greenlee, Assistant Secretary for Aging and Administrator of the Administration for Community Living, U. S. Department of Health and Human Services
Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America
Bob Blancato, Executive Director, NANASP
James Firman, President and CEO, NCOA
Julie Maggioncalda, Senior Director, SOME Senior Services

March marks the anniversary of President Richard Nixon signing into law an amendment to the Older Americans Act of 1965 which established a national nutrition program for seniors 60 years and older. For nearly 45 years, these vital public-private partnerships have delivered more than just nutritious meals to our most vulnerable seniors in nearly every community across the country.

To honor this special month, leaders of the senior nutrition community will celebrate at the Kuehner House, a low-income senior living facility operated by SOME, with the people who rely on Older Americans Act funding to stay healthy.

11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
